Ones in a Lifetime Announces a Recipe for World Peace

(PRWEB) August 31, 2011

World Peace has proven elusive for many generations, but with advances in communication technologies allowing people to connect world-wide, World Peace may be more within reach than ever. Peace has popularly been defined as a lack of conflict, but Ones in a Lifetime believes that peace requires much more than that. Peace has ingredients that are specific and necessary, including nourishment, medicine, education, connection, and opportunity. Much like peace, a celebration has key ingredients, including people, music, and food. Food is a universal language, and people from all cultures can connect when sitting down and sharing a meal.

The Recipe for Peace feature invites members to submit local and family recipes and share them around the world. "When you enter into a major metropolitan area, you find restaurants from a wide variety of cultures," said Ones in a Lifetime Founder Dan Shutt. "We are always looking for ways to connect people and share cultures. What better way to learn how to cook Thai food than from someone who lives in Thailand?" Recipes have already begun streaming in from many countries. You can make submissions on the website, where you can also view recipes that have already been submitted. Ultimately, the Recipe for Peace feature will result in an annual "Reci-PEACE Cookbook" that members can browse and search online. The recipes range across many cultural influences, and provide a way to meet and connect across boundaries.

As part of the Recipe for Peace, Ones in a Lifetime has created two events to celebrate the United Nations' International Day of Peace. The "Peace-A-Pie" and "Peace-A-Cake" events are designed to be celebrated on September 21 at locations across the world, engaging individuals and professional establishments to create pizzas and cakes with toppings and icing arranged in the shape of the peace symbol. This simple visual reminder of the importance of peace is designed to elevate awareness of the UN International Day of Peace, and is yet another way to connect people through cuisine. Participants can show off their creations on the Ones in a Lifetime website, and plans for celebrating these events will be submitted to the UN website event calendar for inclusion on the world stage. You can view details for these events on the Ones in a Lifetime website and on Facebook.

The Recipe for Peace feature is just one of a variety of ways that Ones in a Lifetime is connecting the world in a moment of hope and optimism. Engaging with other peace and unity endeavors, Ones in a Lifetime aims to build a better future, one bite at a time.
