Scribe Launches a Lite Version of its Already Successful Scribe Mobile Dictation App

Lake Forest, IL (PRWEB) October 11, 2011

Last month Scribe announced the release of its Next Generation mobile dictation app Scribe Mobile. This app was originally designed to work in conjunction with the Scribe medical dictation and transcription platform. Based on a strong response from smaller medical groups that simply want to dictate voice files and have secure access to the voice files, Scribe is now announcing a Lite version of Scribe Mobile.

Scribe Mobile Lite will allow users to dictate voice files on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. Files are securely uploaded wirelessly via WiFi or 3G to the Scribe data center and available for secure access via FTP.

While we have over 30,000 health professionals using Scribe technology today, Scribe Mobile Lite will be available to those not currently on our platform, says John Weiss, Scribe Healthcare Technologies Vice President. Scribe Mobile Lite is an inexpensive way to convert your iPhone into a mobile dictation device and transfer files for transcription. This is ideal for small physician practices that transcribe referral letters and other patient information."

Scribe Mobile Lite provides core functionality:

Save money by using your existing device for dictation
Upload files as you dictate or in batch
Upload wirelessly with WiFi or 3G
Reduce your documentation lead-time

Scribe Mobile is easy to use. Simply open the app, select the patient and dictate. Rewind, playback, fast-forward, and add additional dictation are included. Files can be transferred immediately without tethering the device or queued for transfer later. After transfer Scribe Mobile provides a unique dictation id for tracking. Voice files are stored on the device for one week by default.

Scribe Mobile can be downloaded for free on iTunes and requires the user to have a Scribe account.

Chegg.com Launches Hatch, Offering Students First-Comer Discounts on Popular Products

Santa Clara, CA (PRWEB) January 30, 2007

Chegg (as in 'chicken & egg'), a local student classifieds website, announced today a service called Hatch that offers steeply discounted products to college students across the United States.

The service is a first-come, first-serve marketplace where students can purchase popular products at a discount in limited quantities a few times a week. The first ten Hatch offers will include quantities of the Nintendo Wii, Canon PowerShot, World of Warcraft, iPod nano, iPod shuffle, iPod accessories, high-end blenders and other crowd-pleasers. The first widely-available Hatch launches tomorrow, January 31.

Each day's Hatch will remain under cover until it launches at 10 a.m. Pacific time. Depending on its popularity, an item may hatch multiple times during the day to give students in all time zones access to the discount. In a trial run of the program, a Hatch of 25 iPod nanos sold out in the first two-and-a-half minutes. Chegg will announce subsequent Hatches on http://www.chegg.com the day before the hatch.

Chegg.com started as a classified site used by students to trade and exchange used textbooks with others their campuses. It has expanded to include categories for other student lifestyle items, such as computers and furniture, and to include discounted new textbooks.

"Chegg is not just about classifieds. We're about positively impacting every facet of students' daily lives, whether it means providing access to cool, affordable stuff or connecting them with another student to buy a used chemistry textbook," said Osman Rashid, CEO and co-founder of Chegg.

In addition to offering students discounted products, Chegg's Hatch helps retailers gain valuable feedback from 18 to 24 year olds. To participate in the service, students answer a brief questionnaire that helps retailers understand their preferences. Chegg ensures all users that only broad demographic opinions (e.g., what do 18 year olds think about Wii vs. PlayStation or Xbox) are tracked and that all individual data is kept secure under Chegg's privacy policy.

To participate in the Hatch of the Day, students must have a university (.edu) email account or attend schools that Chegg has pre-approved for other email types.

"Only college students can purchase Hatched products. That's what helps keep it unique and valuable," said Aayush Phumbhra, co-founder and vice president of campus operations at Chegg.

Retailers can join the Hatch partner program to request that Chegg add their products to the Hatch roster. Visit http://www.chegg.com/chpp for more details.

Service businesses can maximize lucrative gift certificate sales over the holiday season while capitalizing on the booming Facebook commerce market thanks to a new App unveiled today by GramercyOne. The new App enables businesses to sell gift certificates directly from their Facebook pages for the first time, creating instant gift certificates which consumers can print, email and send viral across the worlds largest social media network.

GramercyOne, which secured a $ 14.5m funding round in October led by Revolution Ventures, specializes in creating cloud-based business management and marketing tools that enable businesses to tap into the power of digital commerce. Its Booker Platform is used by more than 2,700 businesses around the globe from multi-national enterprises like Hilton Worldwide to single-location spas, salons, fitness centers and local service businesses. The platform processes more than 700,000 transactions per month, averaging in excess of $ 1.3 million per day in transaction volume.

According to GramercyOne, holiday gift certificates account for over one-third of total sales across businesses that use the Booker Platform during the holiday season, totaling $ 8.3 million in 2010. Last year, 36% of all December gift certificate sales across the platform occurred last-minute, during the four days leading up to Christmas. The company predicts that more than $ 20 million in gift certificate and card sales will be transacted across the Booker Platform this holiday season.

Gift certificates are crucial to the success of holiday sales for business of all sizes, said GramercyOnes COO, Daniel Lizio-Katzen. At a time of year when business owners are busier than ever, our gifting tools make it easy for them to leverage their online, mobile, and now even Facebook presence to maximize sales.

GramercyOne has been at the forefront of creating tools that enable businesses to tap in to the power of social commerce, a market which is predicted to total over $ 1 billion in the U.S. during 2011 (Booz & Co.) In July, the company introduced a fully integrated scheduling application for Facebook and, with the launch of its latest app, is now the only cloud based business management and marketing platform to enable its merchants to sell gift certificates directly from their Facebook page. The significance of gifting in social commerce was highlighted last week by the introduction of the PayPal Facebook app.

Euston, We Have a Problem - FixMyTransport.com Launches to Help Passengers

(PRWEB UK) 30 August 2011

mySociety, the high-tech British not-for-profit organisation, today launches FixMyTransport.com, a new website to help citizens group together to overcome common public transport problems.

FixMyTransport is an attractive new tool which makes it extremely easy for users to send problem reports and complaints directly to transport providers, even if they have no idea who is responsible for a specific route or stop. It covers the whole of Great Britain, from Lands End to the Shetland Isles, and every operator is represented whether its a billion-pound train company or a tiny community minibus service.

FixMyTransport builds up and extends the successful model of its sister site FixMyStreet.com (which had over 60,000 problems reported in 2010): as well as sending the passengers report to the operator, it also publishes it online. FixMyStreet has been copied around the world, from Brazil to South Korea, and mySociety is working on versions for the Dominican Republic and the Philippines. mySociety's hope is that FixMyTransport will be similarly popular across the globe - after all, wherever you find a public transport system, therell probably be something going wrong...

Small Campaigns

FixMyTransport users can do more than just send complaints - they are given the opportunity to rally support for persistent problems, by creating a campaign page which other transport users can then put their names to. FixMyTransport then offers a powerful toolbox to help them spread the word and lobby for changes.

Big Ambitions

Data has been drawn from the National Public Transport Data Repository (NPTDR) and National Public Transport Access Nodes (NaPTAN) data sets, which provide route names, stops and operators - over 300,000 bus, train, tube and tram stops are represented on individual pages. Dozens of volunteers have helped crowdsource the contact details of hundreds of operators, to make sure problem reports go to the right place. Many transport providers were invited to visit the site prior to launch, and their feedback has informed its fine-tuning - you can now leave praise as well as complaints.

Notes for Editors

mySocietys Director Tom Steinberg is available for interview to talk about how FixMyTransport could help transform public transport in this country. During the short weeks the site has been in beta testing, more than 70 real-life problems have already been reported.

For more information about the inception and history of the new site, please see this page: http://www.mysociety.org/fixmytransport, or to visit the site go to http://www.FixMyTransport.com itself.

mySociety is the project of registered charity UK Citizens Online Democracy (1076346). mySociety runs most of the best-known democracy and transparency websites in the UK, sites like http://TheyWorkForYou.com and http://WhatDoTheyKnow.com.

mySociety has two missions. The first is to be a charitable project which builds websites that give people simple, tangible benefits in the civic and community aspects of their lives. The second is to teach the public and voluntary sectors, through demonstration, how to use the internet most efficiently to improve lives.
