Sandals and Suits: Get Legal Questions Answered at Entrepreneur Legal Lunch Series at 1410Q, Hosted by St. Ledger-Roty Neuman& Olson

Washington, DC (PRWEB) March 18, 2010

The D.C.- based technology law firm St. Ledger-Roty Neuman & Olson is hosting its first Sandals and Suits legal lunch for tech entrepreneurs on Friday, March 26, 2010, at entrepreneur hotspot 1410Q, starting at 12:00 p.m. This event will be repeated on the last Friday of every month.

St. Ledger-Roty Neuman & Olson is offering to sit down one-on-one with individual tech entrepreneurs seeking general advice regarding various legal issues that may arise in the early stages of their business. There will be no charge for this service.

The firms goal is to help tech entrepreneurs address the common issues that many technology start-ups confront.

We have helped many early stage technology companies get through some of the toughest legal issues that they will face in those critical early stages, said St. Ledger-Roty partner Josh Engel. If legal issues are ignored early on, they can fester and cause big problems down the line. We also know that budgets are tight early on, so were offering lunch and some general guidance for free at 1410Q once per month. Were delighted to be sponsoring the technology and entrepreneurial hotspot 1410Q, helping it realize the goal of creating a vibrant D.C.- based tech community.

St. Ledger-Roty Neuman & Olson lawyers can help with the following types of questions:

1) What can I tell, and to whom? Whats the best way to protect my ideas and information when speaking with prospective investors, partners and the like? (NDAs, trade secrets, patents, IP protection).

2) I can't do it alone. I have to partner with developers, designers, infrastructure providers, distributors, resellers, strategic allies. How should I protect my ideas, my IP, my business? Are the terms that these partners are putting on the table reasonable? How and when should I push back?

3) My product/service is so cutting edge that I don't even know if it's legal... What is the legal/regulatory landscape that I have to consider? How can I strategically plan development to take advantage of current the current legal/regulatory landscape and prepare for future changes?

4) My product/service collects, uses, sells, manages, and otherwise touches people's data. What is the privacy and data protection landscape and how do I architect my product/service to stay compliant?

5) I need money to finance my company. How do I get it, and once I'm talking to someone willing to give it to me, how do I best protect my and my company's interests?

6) I want to hire people. Should I hire them as contractors? Employees? How do I compensate them? How do I make sure that I own everything that my contractors are doing? I've identified a foreign born worker - how can I stay compliant with immigration laws?

7) I've hired them... but now I need to fire them... what do I do now?

8) I'm building a brand in my product or corporate trademark. How do I protect my trademark rights?
